The Islamic Journal of Cultural Studies is established as a scholarly platform dedicated to advancing intellectual discourse and academic research at the intersection of Islam, culture, and society. The journal responds to the growing need for an authoritative outlet that accommodates rigorous studies, critical reflections, and empirical findings relating to the dynamics of religion, cultural practices, identity formation, values, and social behavior, particularly within the Malaysian and Nusantara contexts. In an era characterized by rapid socio-cultural transformation, this journal aspires to serve as an intellectual bridge that connects diverse disciplines such as Islamic jurisprudence, theology, Islamic civilization, cultural anthropology, sociology, the arts, and community studies. The journal aims to function as a catalyst for interdisciplinary engagement by foregrounding contemporary issues, including the cultural interpretation of Islamic teachings, the harmonization of Islamic values in plural societies, the evolution of popular culture, and the challenges of preserving heritage and Muslim identity in a globalized world. Its distinctive character lies in its focus on local cultural realities while remaining grounded in strong Islamic epistemological foundations. This dual orientation provides scholars with a meaningful space to propose new theories, analytical frameworks, and methodological approaches relevant to the lived experiences of Muslim communities in the Malay Archipelago. Published by Academy of Contemporary Islamic Studies (ACIS), Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Perak Branch, the journal reflects the institution’s commitment to promoting high-quality, contemporary, and contextually relevant scholarship in Islamic studies.
